Leadership For Success – 5 Daily Actions To Take

Leadership For Success In Your Business

If you’re new to running your own business then you’ll want to develop leadership for success in whatever it is you are selling or promoting. Leadership is a key element to the successful running of any business and listed below are 5 very important techniques that many of the successful leaders in industry use every day.

“Why does my business need leadership for success?”

Because in order to be successful in a variety of businesses, you have to position yourself as a leader and expert in your field. People want to follow people that are successful – people they see as leaders and people that really are experts in their field. And when they get to know, like and trust you, they will buy off you.  It’s as simple as that. Most businesses need great leadership for success.

So what ARE the 5 DAILY actions that successful leaders take?

1. Daily Visualisation And Meditation Of Your Goals

Did you know that you have the power to influence your subconscious mind? Did you also know that your conscious mind is tiny compared to your massive subconscious mind?

You need to work out your goals and they have to be very specific.  You can’t just say you want to be successful in business.  You have to define what that success is and what it looks like.  To give you an idea, it could be a goal of earning $10,000 per month by a certain date. You can’t just say that you want to earn lots of money – that’s not going to work on your subconscious mind.  You have to work out the specifics of what you want to achieve and dates by which you want to achieve your goals.

I recommend you put your goals into a list and visualise them each day. Say them out loud so that your subconscious mind can start to find ways to deliver solutions to you to enable you to achieve those goals. You’ll find that in time, the more obsessed you become with something, the more likely it is to happen. Think back to things in your life that you’ve wanted so badly, that they’ve eventually happened for you.  You made them happen.

2. Income Producing Activities

You have to be disciplined to do the things in your business that are going to make you money.  You must market your busin

ess daily or you simply won’t get any leads or customers. That could be placing adverts on the Internet, writing a blog post,  interacting with your customers through social media, email or by speaking to them.  Imagine if you had a shop on a high street, are you just going to rely on passing trade to come into your store or are you going to proactively market it?  Without customers, you have no business. Same applies online.

3. Mastermind With Other Leaders

Make sure you mastermind with as many successful leaders or mentors in your industry as possible. Can you access live calls, conference calls, trainings or webinars? You’ll find that the more you can mix with other leaders who are like-minded and positive, their influence on you will have a dramatic effect.

As time goes by, the more you immerse and surround yourself in the company of other leaders, you’ll start to speak their language and your transition to becoming a leader will be much easier.

4. Cultivate The Expectation Of Leadership For Success

Don’t wait to HAVE what other leaders have before you DO what other leaders do so you can BE what other leaders are.  Do it the other way around.  BE the leader, DO what leaders do and you will HAVE what leaders have.  So have belief in yourself and create that vital leadership for success, the life-blood of any business.

5. Personal Development

Never miss an opportunity for daily personal development or training. Always be a student and increase your knowledge and expertise. You can read books, listen to audio, do training courses and best of all, attend live events  Try and learn something new every day. If you’re not learning, you’re standing still.

I was taught the importance of these 5 daily actions from my mentor Jay Kubassek, Co-Founder of SFM & DEA – top leader in Internet marketing and entrepreneurial education. I spent quite a bit of time with him at the first PRO-U PEAK Mastermind event in Costa Rica. Click here to view a video of us chatting.  David Wood, Co-Founder of the Empower Network was also there and he and I had a really interesting chat one afternoon.

Internet Entrepreneurship – Lindsey’s Trip to the PRO U Peak Mastermind Retreat, Costa Rica, April ’12

Internet Entrepreneurship - Lindsey’s Trip to the PRO-U Peak Mastermind Retreat, Costa Rica, April ’12

Lindsey with Jay Kubassek

So –  I’ve been back a week already and I’m still on a high, want to know why?

Flying out to Costa Rica in Central America this April 2012 to learn from the industry gurus of PRO U, those super successful leaders at the very pinnacle of success in Internet Entrepreneurship proved to be a life-changing experience for me. A real turning point in my career as an Internet Entrepreneur, I had the unique opportunity to network, mastermind and socialise with some of the biggest names in the business (doesn’t get any better than the PRO U Founder, Jay Kubassek himself no less!), while having a fantastically good time to boot!

This was PRO U’s first ever PEAK Mastermind Retreat event, held at the sumptuous Hilton Papagayo, Guanacaste (the Pacific side of Costa Rica) surrounded by stunning rainforest and incredible scenery amidst a backdrop of tropical splendour.  You might be surprised that I managed to learn anything at all with all the excitement, but when you have powerful, respected speakers and leaders such as Jay Kubassek, David Bach, Michael Force, Jay Kilberg, Justin Woolf, Aaron & Sophia Rashkin and Chris Daigle (friend and business associate of Ryan Deiss & Mike Dillard) to name but a few, can you blame me for being captivated?! What really set these few days apart as being totally unique in every sense was the opportunity for them to not just be speakers, but to socialise and integrate on a one-to-one basis too! David Bach, 9 times New York Times Bestselling Author was equally at home during his presentations talking about his vision as he was in the swimming pool over a cool cocktail at the swim-up bar, and our small group of around 40 facing their fears on the zipwire was a true networking experience I’ll always treasure.

Zipwiring, come to mention it, was where everything came together. Just imagine being up in the canopy of the forest, seeing a terrifying ravine ahead of you which you’re about to traverse with nothing more than a clip or two on a thin metal wire anything up to around 40 metres above the forest floor between you and certain death! However, how better to sum up our goal in what we do in our businesses? Jay Kubassek, in his address the following day, likened the zipwire to succeeding in our businesses. Jay says we need to have crystal clear goals in mind and set a mental zipwire to them. He said we need to forget all the baggage which is holding us back. We need to face our fears and limitations head on and overcome them. Trying to solve problems using logical, rational thinking isn’t always the best option. Our subconscious usually knows exactly what we need to do (even if our conscious mind doesn’t) and can come up with the solutions. We need to forget our fears both in business and zipwiring and take the plunge. Jay says if our mental zipwires are attached to our goals and we focus clearly on them, we’ll find a way of getting there and before we know it, we’ll be heading in the right direction!

With Internet Entrepreneurship, dreaming big and believing in yourself is KEY

Inspirational sessions and presentations took place in between the more casual networking over candlelit dinners and pool-side chats. David Bach spoke at length about the four types of people that exist in today’s society – survivors, strugglers, strivers and thrivers. David’s main market is strivers and he impressed upon each and every one of us of the importance to decide which one we are targeting with our businesses!

Looking from the pool to the Pacific Ocean!

We were treated like kings too, a whole myriad of the most delicious food available at any time of day or most of the night from as many restaurants as you can imagine, and similarly the bars were open at all hours, even in the swimming pool! Every evening we had the privilege of dining with a different guru, each of whom shared their life experiences in an informal situation. What a fantastic way to learn – when we weren’t in sessions we could continue to socialise and absorb, almost like a drip feed, as we were able to mastermind on often a one-to-one basis with these true masters of their arts! This really was a truly transformational experience, where being able to have invaluable, personal contact was more than I could have ever wished for.

So how would I sum up my Internet Entrepreneurship experience?

Apologies for those of you who are bored of the zipwire analogies, but this one is my own. This unique opportunity gave me a fast track to far greater understanding in my businesses as I look towards Internet Entrepreneurship. Thanks to the leg-up that I got from PRO U (in the same way the Costa Rican guides helped me into the harness for the zipwire) I was ready and raring to go (although sick with fright), eager to learn as much as I could. Spending these few days was a rip-roaring adventure, and just like when I was speeding through the sky at speeds I thought impossible dangling from a zipwire, I was speeding through the content at speeds I thought impossible too! My notebook is full and my brain now full of ideas, and as Jay Kubassek said, my goal is clear in my head. I’m not yet off my zipwire, but believe me, when I get there, I’ll be a better person because of it.

Hold your horses! Learning Internet Entrepreneurship from the masters
